Riet extension, Winterthur

Kompogas Winterthur AG operates an anaerobic digestion plant in the Riet area near Winterthur. In 2021, the canton granted the operator the operating license under waste law with conditions. The conditions concern, among other things, measures to prevent or reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and to ensure the required storage volumes for liquid digestate (press water). Internal clarifications have shown that structural measures were required for this. A new press water tank was to be built and, in this context, the delivery of the green waste and the distribution of the products were to be better organized. The new buildings were to be constructed within the current design plan perimeter. For this purpose, the existing public design plan "Riet fermentation plant" had to be revised.
