Replacement of the Ruebisbach water pipeline, Kloten

Soil science construction supervision (BBB)

The project

A new replacement had to be built for the Ruebisbach transport water pipeline in Kloten. The pipeline ran over a length of around 500 m across open agricultural land, which was largely designated as a crop rotation area FFF. To cross the Rousbach stream and Weinbergstrasse, two sections of approx. 15 m and approx. 60 m length respectively were constructed using jacking pipes. A start and finish pit had to be created for each section. The pipeline construction and the temporarily used areas for installation sites, construction slopes and start and finish pits affected large areas of ground. In order to ensure proper handling of the soil and correct recultivation, the responsible licensing authority therefore required the use of a soil science construction supervision (BBB). Ecosens AG's BBB provided expert support for the project during the four-month construction phase and carried out various clarifications and surveys. Unexpectedly, the pipeline route also ran through a previously unknown former landfill site, which led to further challenges. Thanks to the excellent cooperation of all parties involved, the project was completed successfully and in an environmentally friendly manner.
