N01 / N07 New construction of SABA Kefikerbach (ZH) and Bewangerbach (TG)

Environmental and nature conservation measures

The project

In order to adapt the highway drainage system to the latest state of the art, the Federal Roads Office FEDRO is planning the construction of a total of 8 new road wastewater treatment plants (RWWTP) along the N01 and N07 in the border area between the cantons of Zurich and Thurgau. In a first stage, the SABA Kefikerbach in Kefikon (ZH) and the SABA Bewangerbach in Frauenfeld (TG) were planned. As part of the detailed project, PV Umwelt evaluated the requirements from the planning approval procedures (PGV), carried out in-depth environmental clarifications and optimized the project in terms of its environmental impact. To this end, various inspections were carried out with the cantonal experts responsible for hunting, fishing and water maintenance, as well as the district and district foresters concerned. Based on this, a landscape management plan was drawn up for each SABA with measures for the creation and maintenance of the green areas as well as an earthmoving and recultivation concept. In addition, measures were developed to protect the affected bodies of water during the construction and operational phases as well as replacement measures for temporary clearing.
