With the acquisition of ALCAN in 2007, the mining company Rio Tinto also took over the industrial legacy of aluminum production at the former Alusuisse sites. Following the cessation of operational activities, the numerous sites have to be remediated in accordance with contaminated sites legislation and put to a new use. This raises many legal and technical questions.
Legal advice and representation in all matters relating to contaminated sites in connection with the investigation, remediation and divestment of the various operational and landfill sites in Zurich and Valais
Contact with authorities, drafting of contracts, approval procedures, collateralization, appeal procedures regarding real performance obligations and cost allocation
Technical advice on all issues relating to the management of contaminated sites (preliminary and detailed investigations, remediation projects, disposal, etc.)
