Hydrogeological monitoring and thermal groundwater modeling
The project
Place: Kloten
Customer: Building technology planner (heating)
Phases: Planning and monitoring groundwater heat utilization
Duration: 2023/2024
Ecosens AG carried out hydrogeological investigations in a district of Kloten for the replacement and expansion of two heating centers in order to use groundwater for heating and cooling purposes. In addition to the geological surveys of the boreholes and planning of the well expansion, pumping tests were carried out and evaluated. Computer-aided thermal groundwater modeling was also carried out using the "Feflow" software to determine the number and positions of the extraction and return wells as well as the mutual thermal influences of the systems. This thermal groundwater modeling was also used to check compliance with the legal requirements for groundwater.
Computer-aided thermal groundwater models with the "Feflow" software
Planning and coordination work with planners and authorities
Management of field work, hydrogeological monitoring and documentation of drilling, planning of well expansion, monitoring and evaluation of pumping tests
Compilation and documentation of the results
Assistance with the license application
Challenges
Individual and site-specific advice tailored to the needs of our customers, taking into account the complex hydrogeological conditions underground
Representation of as accurate an image as possible of the subsurface with the available documents in order to determine the groundwater flow paths and to dimension and plan the groundwater heat utilization from this.
