Loss of working hours from industrial accidents not only produces human suffering, but also cause significant costs for the companies. The indirect and, thereby, invisible costs arising from loss of working hours often exceed the direct costs. Safety and health protection at the place of work has gained a new significance with the EKAS Directive No. 6508 relating to the consulting of specialists in occupational safety and health, which came into force on 1st January 2000.
